opensbc with asterisk


I see plenty of posts from some talking about using asterisk and I would be interested in using opensbc to connect to a couple of different types of systems to see what best works.

Does anyone know of some documentation, guide or such that can explain how to go about this?

SIP is SIP.


If you are using SRV records for failover (which I know you are), i'm not sure how Asterisk deals with that. You may just need to re-write the sip domain destination to be the IP address of the Asterisk box.

Here's one thing I found;

There are several references to using srv with asterisk but there seem to be mixed results. In my case, I would be interested in using opensbc in front of asterisk while many of the notes I've found are people with connections going directly to asterisk.

If the call is coming from the SBC towrds asterisk, load balancing would be as easy as using "|" to separate multiple routes in B2BUA-Routes instead of a comma ",". If it is asterisk that is suppose to load balance calls towards two SBC's, then you can definitely deploy SRV records to point to the two SBC's and give them equal weights and hope that asterisk treats that as a trigger that you want to load balance the calls between the two SBCs.

I will begin testing the various methods once I get the new system up.

My goal is;

1: To have multiple incoming entry points to asterisk, with fail over should one wan go down.

2: To have either an asterisk cluster or multiple asterisk systems synched together for fail over, redundancy.

I was not thinking about having asterisk load balancing outgoing connections but that certainly is interesting.

The only thing I have in that section is under Route-List; [sip:*@mydomain.com] sip:mydomain.com which doesn't have any comma's.

I have found information in the forums on this and am trying to pull it all together. I am if one server could handle both of my pbx's or if it would be best to use two separate ones.
