OpenSBC service dies ( stops ) on first Register. Details included and help requested.

Hi Folks,

Please post if you can help me figure out what I am doing wrong.

I built a brand new Win3k Server and patched it up to SP2, then I downloaded the binary of OpenSBC from opensipstack.org ( opensbc-1.1.4-setup.msi ) and I installed it on the Win3k server.

Install was successful. I can see it in services list and it is Started. I was able to log into the web admin page and goto all the config screens. I changed no settings at all.

I downloaded the binary of OSSPhone from opensipstack.org ( OSSPhoneSetup.msi ) and I installed it on my development XP box and it installed successfully and I started OSSPhone

and inputted the IP ADDRESS of my Win3k server for which OpenSBC service is running.

account id : 2222

password: 1234

registrar : my win3k svr ip adder

click login

Then on win3k server desktop ( I am logged in as administrator on the win3k box ) I get "unhandled win32 exception" and the OpenSBC service stops itself.

The OpenSBC logs show that the registration attempt was handled and does not show any errors.

What else can I show or tell that will help? This seems so generic that it must be some kind of config issue. But either way

the OpenSBC application should not just blow up with win32 exception.....

Since there isn't much information to work with except OpenSBC crashing
on receipt of first packet, I can only guess. However, since you say
its OSSPhone, that you used to register, it's definitely not an
interoperability issue as well. By process of elimination, I can say
that this is an incompatibility issue in the OS libraries installed in
your box and the ones OpenSBC was originally compiled with. I am
suggesting that you just compile OpenSBC from source instead of using
the installer. OpenSBC compiles well in visual studio 2005 Express
which is free. Lastly, there have been a lot of development going on
since version 1.1.4. I suggest you use the current version from CVS.
