Hi
Yes this was the wasy i set things up i the beginning.. eth0 external, eth1
internal. I have now reverse this to solve other issues.
But I when a little further today. I first started out by setting up the
duel 10/100 Linux as a proxy/firewall/NAT box like an inGate SBC/firewall.
I then installed sipX with DHCPD+loacal dns that forwards:53 to external
DNS. Right now when i run sipX its complaining that iptable is running,
which it must do for the linux firewall/NAT to work. I am working on the
ruleset to fix this issue.
This is the way you usually set it up the Linux firewall/Nat to exist
between exterior and internet networks. But i still wanted to run the OSBC
and sipX in the same box. Do you have any ideas about this experiment?
Setting up the proxy/firewall to forward ports and settng a route table
entry between the private and public io's may be over kill but I'm
extrapolating from my successful install of inGate 1190 and sipX running
Grandstream phones and i seem to have done this peice AOK.
I want the OSBC to work like inGate, which also requires me to fool with the
Linux a bit.
The way sipX also handles it's Domain in also a problem. It's SSL cert
needs a FQDN. Apparently there should not be the same FQDN running on a
public DNS. Because sipX and OSBC are running on the same box sipX
installation will resolve the FQDN to the public NIC, which is not want you
want. If i change sipX domain setting to it's ipaddr this problem goes
away. but the iptable issue still remains for now. This issue may be just
an idiot light warning and of no consequence. I did not have this problem
with the inGate, which means there must be a ruleset solution..
I have not installed OSBC yet. Thinking ahead I may have a problem with
OSBC binding to all io's in a system. There is no doc's on how OSBC does
binding or what it's capablities are. Any ideas about this?
This may be more then what you were asking for but i'm hoping this may
trigger your thinking.

hi,
i just want to ask regarding your setup, the way i understand it, is
this:
nic1 - public ip (with sipx sipX+DHCP+DNS)
nic2 - private ip (with osbc)
is this correct?
thanks
